Quiet Time – Some Good Ol’ YOU Time
You ever just feel like throwing your hands up with a huge sigh and to The Universe shout, “Ok already! I give!” Especially with all the craziness of the holidays, life can feel like a runaway train to say the least. For about 9 years I worked as a Certified Health Coach in helping others to use Healthy Habits to lose weight and get healthy. I’m still certified, but I took a huge step back for family and I’m not actively coaching anymore. However, those healthy habits have made all the difference to me and my everyday life!
The holiday season is beautiful, definitely many of my favorite moments of the year! Even with all of the wonders of the holidays, through all the years coaching, it seems that most people are hit hard with stress and exhaustion. Even though it can be a good stress, it’s still a stress none the less. Family visiting, finding the right present, travel, finances, food, trying not to gain 20 pounds with the holiday treats. . . It can be a whirlwind of blessings and fun. And it can be a whirlwind of overwhelm. SO, before you start waving that white flag. . .
One of my favorite Healthy Habits that has really helped me through the years is Quiet Time.
Quiet Time; can be such a crucial time to set aside for YOU—even if it’s just a little. Take a couple of minutes to just breathe, think of something that makes you happy and rid your mind of any stress or negativity. Calm your mind and let your body relax. Notice how it affects your life by implementing this one practice. Two minutes a day may not keep the doctor away, but it can make a HUGE difference in your stress level. Make YOU a priority. This is where the Magic happens.
“I don’t have two seconds to breathe!” I get it! How can we find time to meditate or find quiet time in our busy lives? Where would I fit that? My brain is exploding as is. . . Here are some ideas:
In the shower-
Take time to concentrate on your breathing – 10 deep breaths, counting each one of them. The majority of people stop by the 5th breath! Visualize the water washing your stress away!
Right before bed-
Each night before bed, take a few minutes to take some deep breaths and clear your mind. Take a look at all the patterns from your day & ask yourself what they mean on a big scale in your life. How can you make tomorrow better than today? The place or time you enjoy Quiet Time isn’t important. The most important part is being consistent and “doing it” everyday. One of my favorites? Turn on some calming tunes and relax away! . . .
