Happy Valentine’s Day & month of LOVE! Valentine’s Day is celebrated throughout the United States and many other places throughout the world with candy and flowers, little love notes and various expressions of love all in the name of St. Valentine. Or, so one of the stories go… There are a few different thoughts to why we celebrate exactly. However, it’s always a time to share the love with those special people in our lives. Many think that the card and candy companies have taken advantage of the simple and sweet holiday to exploit it for all its worth. Honestly, if that’s the case? So, what? In a world where we’re all trying to make a buck and support our families, why not just have fun and enjoy celebrating the love in your own way. Whether that’s writing a simple poem for that special someone, making valentine’s and buying candies for your classmates or coworkers, or going seriously all out with beautiful, ornate decorations and sweet decadent chocolates. . . It’s a holiday to celebrate love!
I actually remember very clearly going through a phase of hating Valentine’s Day! Who else has been there? I felt that if I didn’t have a special romantic in my life that it was emphasized. I felt taunted by all the red and pink banners and spews of little cupid characters all over the stores. One year, I actually got together with a few besties (you know who you are) to celebrate the “Anti- Valentine’s Day” with too strong margaritas, fun pampering and goodies. It was actually a lot of fun – the stories of that day will never die! I realize looking back though what drew us together was a frustration instead of getting together to just celebrate the love of friendship.
Yes, much of Valentine’s Day is based on romance. However, just because we don’t necessarily have a current romance (or even if we do) in our lives, why not focus on the very spirit of love and kindness and fun? I absolutely love receiving little Valentine cards or gifts! It means that an individual had enough forethought to think of me and include me. For those of you who dread the day, perhaps take a breath and think of it with a light-hearted openness and think of the people in your life that you love. Share that! Share the love. Share the fun.
This year was such a treat to make special little Valentine Cards and decorate cookies with my little girl (while baby Connor watched and giggled, helping very much in spirit) all while matching in our fun Mommy & Me garb! A new dear friend of mine, Rachael and her babes also got into the spirit with their Mommy & Me’s!! (See images). I’m so grateful for this super sweet lady! She took a leap of faith on this Nobody (me) and collaborated with me to help me get started. I’m incredibly appreciative for every single share, like, comment, subscribe. . . it makes a difference and helps me get the word out and allows me to help others and hopefully make a difference too. Rachael Dorr is an inspiration to me and is the master mind to such a fun blog, that, if you’re not already, you should definitely subscribe to as well. http://www.shutthefrontdorr.com/ So, super quick, HUGE thank you to Rachael and her beautiful family!!! Here’s to the fun ahead lady!
